The Komodo dragon is known to have fifty different types of poisonous bacteria in its saliva which thrive on spores of flesh. As a result bite wounds quickly become infected. However recent research indicates that the real reason for such a high success rate in poisoning its prey could be due to the fact that the Komodo dragon may have a venom gland in its mouth.
