Zwischen Poetik Logik und Raum Julia Hohenwarter (1980 in Wien lebt und arbeitet ebenda) arbeitet in verschiedenen Dimensionen von montierten Skulpturen manuellen Tiefdrucken bis hin zu großformatigen Installationen. Anne Faucheret beschreibt Hohenwarters Arbeit wie folgt: Ihre formal reduzierten und räumlich ausgedehnten Installationen sind sowohl rätselhaft als auch affirmativ poetisch und kritisch erfahrungsorientiert und analytisch. Was geschieht zwischen Fuß und Boden zwischen Pigment und Auge zwischen Stoff und Haut zwischen Leimfarbe und Wand im Moment ihrer Begegnung? Die Künstlerin entwickelt eine kritische räumliche Praxis in der sie ihre eigene persönliche Beziehung zu Raum und Architektur verhandelt und die Art und Weise hinterfragt wie (weibliche) Körper in sie verstrickt sind und sie zugleich produzieren. Private Book stellt eine Erweiterung von Hohenwarters künstlerischer Arbeitsweise dar und überführt die zentrale Technik der Künstlerin - das Verfahren des manuellen rußschwarzen Tiefdrucks - ins Buchformat. Den Prinzipien von Durchdringung und Wiederholdung folgend werden Arbeiten der letzten drei Jahre präsentiert und in ihrer signifikanten Materialität wiedergegeben Illusionen von Dreidimensionalität geschaffen und räumliche und formale Konzepte aufgegriffen. Anne Faucheret describes Hohenwarter's work as such: Her formally reduced and spatially expansive situated installations are at once enigmatic and affirmative poetic and critical experiential and analytical. What happens between the foot and the floor between the pigment and the eye between the fabric and the skin between the distemper and the wall in the moment of their encounter? The artist develops a critical spatial practice in which she negotiates her own personal relationship to space and architecture challenging the ways (female) bodies are at once entangled in them and produce them. Private Book represents an extension of Hohenwarter's artistic practice and transfers the artist's central technique--the process of manual soot-black printing--to the book format. Following the principles of penetration and repetition works from the last three years are presented and reproduced in their significant materiality. materiality create illusions of three-dimensionality and take up spatial and formal concepts.
