Cobras are known for the imposing hood on their necks. They spread the hood when they feel threatened or angry. Their hood consists of flaps of skin attached to long ribs. They are also able to raise their heads high from the ground which is not only a little scary but also helps them forage for food and to make them a little scarier they hiss loudly to scare off potential predators. There are 270 different species of cobras and similar snakes including Taipans Vipers Mambas and many sea snakes. They all have short fangs and are all extremely venomous.
