The FT5 is FiiO's first set of planar magnetic headphones and adds an intense and explosive soundstage. Discover production and technology at the micron level Planar magnetic drivers sit between dynamic and electrostatic headphones. Like dynamic headphones planar drivers have a coil. Similar to electrostatic headphones the membrane consists of a special type of thin micron-level film. The FT5 has undergone a 28 nm chip-scale process resulting in a membrane approximately 6 micrometers thick. These characteristics of the planar driver make it possible to create headphones that are not only highly detailed but also easy to drive.
